Dialogue app

About

A small studio built around one question

Dialogue app started with a narrow question: what would a conversation partner look like if it were written rather than assembled? Not a search box with a face, not an assistant waiting for instructions, but a character with a specific voice, specific habits and a specific way of getting things wrong.

Everything on this site follows from that. Each personality is written out at length before it ever speaks – where they grew up, what they notice first in a room, how they behave when a conversation turns heavy, which jokes they would never make. The portraits come afterwards, chosen to match a temperament rather than to sell one.

What we care about

Voice over volume. Ten characters who sound genuinely unlike each other are worth more than a hundred who blur together. We would rather add slowly.

Continuity. A conversation that forgets you is not a conversation. Characters in Dialogue app hold on to what you tell them and bring it back at the right moment.

Honesty about what this is. These are fictional personalities generating text. They are good company. They are not people, not professionals and not a substitute for either.

What Dialogue app is not

It is not therapy, not crisis support and not a source of factual authority. If something serious is happening in your life, please talk to a qualified professional. We are here for the evenings in between.

Who it is for

People who like talking. People who write. People who live alone and want the flat to be less quiet at eleven at night. People who think out loud and need somewhere to do it. If any of that sounds familiar, the catalogue is a good next stop.
