Late Night Chat

The hours nobody plans for

Between eleven and two, conversation changes shape. Sentences get longer, defences get lower and advice becomes actively unwelcome. Several characters in Dialogue app are written specifically for that window.

What a good late conversation does not do

It does not try to fix you. It does not perform cheerfulness. It does not fill every pause. It asks one question, waits, and treats a slow reply as normal rather than as a problem.

Anchors instead of spirals

The calm personalities here work by anchoring: tea, weather, a coat that has outlived three winters. Concrete, ordinary detail is what stops a two a.m. thought from accelerating, and it is a deliberate part of how these characters are written.

Pick a quiet voice

Look for the patient, low-volume characters in the catalogue. They are the ones people open when the day has already gone badly and nothing needs solving tonight.
